We are going to only buy presents for a family I know that has had a very rough time this year. The kids did go to school with Michael and Greyson but this year they home school. The mother has been a true inspiration to me on how we can live on so much less and still find things for the kids to do without having spend money.

I have gotten a few things. I am super happy that we did a name draw for the adults this year; so I really don’t have much to get. I do not do shopping on black friday anymore! Too many lines…LOL

I have some stuff…but most of my big stuff is still yet to be decided. I planned on Black Friday shopping but it looks like my husband will have to work that day and I am definately not taking my 3 year old with me to the crazy black Friday!

Well, for the MIL and FIL we are going to DB Impressions and having pictures done of the grandchildren for them. (By the way, Diane at DB Impressions does a great job and is fun!) As for some close friends that we like to do something for, my 8 year old and I will be making a lot of things for them. We made a few things last year but we are going to make most of the gifts this year. We have fun doing it and it gives us some quality mother/son time. For my kids, I pick things up throughout the year that are on clearance and then usually my hubby likes to go and pick a few things out for the boys with me. We have been tight on cash this year with a partial layoff of my hubby but we will still have a good time. The best things in life are free! Really, I think my boys would be happiest with just quality time from us.

I buy things for the kids throughout the year when I see good deals, and then I just stash them for later. For others, I try to have everything done by the first week of December so I can get it all in the mail. I do a mix of handmade things and store-bought. Stockings are a big deal for us, so I keep a small box/bag for each person that has only “stocking” items. I’m planning to make new stockings for the kids this year if I can get my act together!

I’m happy to say that I have the major gifts already made/purchased! I got deals on those photo mugs and that’s going to cover the grands. Plus, I’ve been snagging deals for months on stuff for the kids, so I’ve got all that stashed away for Christmas. Just a few people left that I’ll hopefully have some time to make for, since I won’t be getting elbowed in the crowds of holiday shoppers.

We don’t think that hard about X-mas shopping. We try to make the holidays less about gifts and more about family. So no…we aren’t done and haven’t given it much thought. We will have a special Christmas regardless of what gifts are under the tree though….we always do.

I have scheduled several craft nights with a group of friends. Each night, we’re focusing on a different craft to give as gifts. I’m not usually too into Black Friday, but might attempt it this year if my sister would like to join me (we’ll be visiting them for Thanksgiving). I have lots to get done in the next almost 8 weeks!

We typically wait to start until December, but I’ve started stockpiling ideas. I’ve also started the lectures to grandparents on what is (and is not) an appropriate amount of gifts for a 3-year-old… so that’s something, right?
