Family Life

This afternoon I was standing in my kitchen talking to my mother on the phone, when I noticed a teeny bit of movement outside the window.  I took a closer look to discover this little guy paying me a visit.

He was the smallest little squirrel I have ever seen and I got such a kick out of this little baby, that I quickly called the kids in. Alex ooohed and ahhhhed over him while Elliott pointed and squealed with delight! We decided to head out for a closer look and discovered that he was too young to fear us. We were able to touch his nose and stay quite close to him for awhile.

Elliott was just enamored by the little guy and couldn’t stop grinning.

And Alex didn’t take it so well when the baby squirrel decided humans weren’t great company and took off up the tree.

I just love getting to share with my kids all the fun little things that nature offers. :) I think in our busy society we often lose touch with the simplest, most beautiful things if life. I know that sometimes I need to remind myself to step outside, take a deep breath and just enjoy.
