Easter fun and….food poisoning??
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! Ours was…interesting. The kids had a great time hunting eggs. Alex had gotten slightly more aggressive over the past few years and actually got a good number of eggs this time around. Elliott went right too it like she’d been doing it for years. We had a really good time watching them at the egg hunt we had at my in-laws’ house the day before Easter. We did it kind of spur of the moment because Sunday morning was going to be cold…so the kids aren’t in their Easter clothes.

We had plans to join my side of the family on Sunday for a delicious lunch and egg hunt. However, about 3am Sunday morning, Shayne and I awoke with fierce tummyaches. We tried to blame it on the enormous dinner we ate and attempted to go back to sleep.
No such luck.
Look at these unsuspecting faces..

Within a few hours, the reality of food poisoning set in. We were two very sick puppies. I will say one thing: we learned a big lesson. You know those truck stop burritos, taquitos and other fried wonders?? They’re not okay. You see, we were running late Saturday and thought we’d just grab a bite of something when we got gas. Our college-road-trip-born fondness for truck stop food took over all rational thought. He got 2 burritos. I got a Tornado and some poppers.
Pure evil, those fried goodies. Pure evil.
We hated to disappoint the kiddos and have them miss out on the family party, so I called my awesome cousin Jaycie. She picked up the kids (and my camera) and delivered them safely to Grandma at the party. While Shayne and I were at his parents house, spending more time in the bathroom than not…the kids had a great visit and fun egg hunt. They brought home lots and lots of Easter goodies. And while they got to where their Easter outfits, you can’t really see them for the jackets. Mean ol’ cold weather. I’ll try to get some good pictures taken of them all dressed up and share them later.
One last pic that is just too fun not to share…
