Fun With Felt! *WINNER*
Soon after I posted my felt board tutorial last week, I received the most lovely package from Karen at www.funfelt.com. At FunFelt, they have an amazing selection of felt boards, felt books and felt shapes that are wonderful for storytelling, home education, keeping chore charts, etc.
The package that we received included two wonderful sets of felt stories.
Alex’s set was Aesop’s Fables. It came precut, assembled and included an audio CD as well as a booklet so the child or parent can read the stories aloud as the felt scenes are used. We instantly fell in love!
The book is bound with 3 rings and with each turn of the page, you discover lovely new scenes that serve as backdrops for several stories each.
Just look at the lovely detail and adorable creatures!
Opposite each scene, you’ll find a pocket that includes the felt cutouts of people, animals and objects that help tell the fables.
Don’t you just love all the detail? Wow!
Elliott received a slightly different type of felt book and the Itsy Bitsy Spider collection. It came in a tidy little zip pouch with a pocket to hold the felt pieces and a booklet with a couple of spider stories to tell in addition to the classic Itsy Bitsy that we all know and love.
The little creatures are friendly and appealing and the book can stand up or be flat in a lap for long car rides and such.
I look very forward to more peaceful road trips with these in tow. Elliott has just never been a good car ride kind of kid, so peace in the car is priceless to us!
The kids even took their felt sets with them to enjoy in the leaf piles this weekend! It made for such a lovely afternoon.
Now…this is where you come in!
The very gracious Karen at funfelt.com has given me the privilege of giving one of my magnificent readers a $25 gift certificate to use for their own felt goodies. Talk ab0ut a great way to get a wonderfully unique Christmas present!

I am a make-it-so-you-don’t-have-to-buy-it sort of person. I’ve already started crafting as many of the gifts as I can that we’ll give this year. Its fun, the kids can be involved and ppl like that you actually THOUGHT about what to do for them, rather than grabbed a gift card or something.
That being said, there’s just a couple things that I’ll grab in the next couple of weeks for my kiddos. Its tough to make for them.
Ooooh I LOVE these!
As for Christmas shopping…yeah I have barely started. Slacker
I just can’t get ANY ideas for D.
Well, I have most of the girls’ shopping done. I am holding out for Black Friday, we used to go every year. Hubby wants a PSP but I am not sure we will be getting that yet. Men and their toys! Not sure on the extended family yet.
These are fantastic!
I have taken the handmade pledge! Hopefully, everything I gift this year will be hand crafted – probably 95% of that wool felt goodies!
For my family members, I am setting up a family felting day and giving them “gift certificates” to a felting workshop. That should be fun.
For our children, we are doing one family gift, and this year we are debating whether or not to build a lovely hutch and rescue an angora rabbit.
Time shall tell.
I’ve begun shopping already, picked up a few things through Amba’s co-op. Jack will get a tricycle as his big gift, but that hasn’t been purchased yet. DH wants some fancy tires for his car. I’d be happy with a newborn session for my new baby!
have not even started on Christmas! I kind of like the last minute rush myself
thanks!
I’m almost done Christmas shopping. over half of it is handmade. I think the family will love that. Dakota’s big item is a nintendo ds. Bella’s is a wood stacker.
Those are adorable!
I’m crocheting like a crazy woman at every possible moment – I just don’t want to shop this year, and most of them don’t need any more meaningless “stuff!:
I have ordered a couple of things…and have a list of ideas for some people. I’m just glad I’ve already ordered the kids’ advent calendars! Last year they opened the first 4-5 days on the first day that we had them because I was so late getting them ordered!
I start shopping in August for Christmas, some people think I am crazy, but the crowds are just awful after Thanksgiving!
I still have a long way to go with my Christmas shopping. I am done with Mosely’s big gifts (2 big wooden play sets) and I plan on making lots of gifts. I am excited that M is now old enough to help make some gifts too.
I am half way done with my Christmas shopping. I have a list of all the purchases and wait until the items to go on sale! I save so much money by waiting for sales!
We’re mostly done with the kids. We’re not sure if we’ll be able to afford to get anything for each other right now though.
I’m going to try and make most of my gifts this year. I’m not buying much (if anything) for the kid since I know everyone else will go overboard, as usual. Hubby and I will likely just pick something to buy together as a gift to ourselves.
havent started christmas shopping yet probably wont start until december doesnt take me very long…..
we haven’t even begun yet. we usually start in the second week of xmas
I have already started shopping but there are still so many people to shop for and not enough money or time. LOL!
My Christmas shopping is never done….even though I have a roomful (seriously – not exaggerating) of gifts. I can’t pass up a sale!
I’ve started my shopping, but am nowhere close to done. I’m really having a hard time figuring out what to get my girls. I love going shopping on Black Friday. It was much more fun when we lived in AZ though…not nearly as cold
I like to shop a little at a time because it’s more fun and less stressful
I would say I’m at least 75% done. Most of the kids’ stuff I found at cosignment sales this year!
I am aiming to get all my shopping done in November, so that we can enjoy the advent season once December comes.
We typically wait to start until December, but I’ve started stockpiling ideas. I’ve also started the lectures to grandparents on what is (and is not) an appropriate amount of gifts for a 3-year-old… so that’s something, right?
I have scheduled several craft nights with a group of friends. Each night, we’re focusing on a different craft to give as gifts. I’m not usually too into Black Friday, but might attempt it this year if my sister would like to join me (we’ll be visiting them for Thanksgiving). I have lots to get done in the next almost 8 weeks!
We don’t think that hard about X-mas shopping. We try to make the holidays less about gifts and more about family. So no…we aren’t done and haven’t given it much thought. We will have a special Christmas regardless of what gifts are under the tree though….we always do.
I’m happy to say that I have the major gifts already made/purchased! I got deals on those photo mugs and that’s going to cover the grands. Plus, I’ve been snagging deals for months on stuff for the kids, so I’ve got all that stashed away for Christmas. Just a few people left that I’ll hopefully have some time to make for, since I won’t be getting elbowed in the crowds of holiday shoppers.
I buy things for the kids throughout the year when I see good deals, and then I just stash them for later. For others, I try to have everything done by the first week of December so I can get it all in the mail. I do a mix of handmade things and store-bought. Stockings are a big deal for us, so I keep a small box/bag for each person that has only “stocking” items. I’m planning to make new stockings for the kids this year if I can get my act together!
Well, for the MIL and FIL we are going to DB Impressions and having pictures done of the grandchildren for them. (By the way, Diane at DB Impressions does a great job and is fun!) As for some close friends that we like to do something for, my 8 year old and I will be making a lot of things for them. We made a few things last year but we are going to make most of the gifts this year. We have fun doing it and it gives us some quality mother/son time. For my kids, I pick things up throughout the year that are on clearance and then usually my hubby likes to go and pick a few things out for the boys with me. We have been tight on cash this year with a partial layoff of my hubby but we will still have a good time. The best things in life are free! Really, I think my boys would be happiest with just quality time from us.
I have some stuff…but most of my big stuff is still yet to be decided. I planned on Black Friday shopping but it looks like my husband will have to work that day and I am definately not taking my 3 year old with me to the crazy black Friday!
I have gotten a few things. I am super happy that we did a name draw for the adults this year; so I really don’t have much to get. I do not do shopping on black friday anymore! Too many lines…LOL
We are going to only buy presents for a family I know that has had a very rough time this year. The kids did go to school with Michael and Greyson but this year they home school. The mother has been a true inspiration to me on how we can live on so much less and still find things for the kids to do without having spend money.

I liked it. So much useful material. I read with great interest.
