A peasant dress for my girl

During our stay in New York, I found this amazing Japanese mushroomy fabric in this lovely little fabric store in SoHo.  I knew that this fabric had a retro kitchen curtain feel, but I just knew I had to make Elliott a dress from it.  I bought it, came home and coordinated a couple of fabrics with it and began a search for the right pattern to suit the fabric.

I found this Maya Peasant Dress pattern on Etsy and knew it was the one!  I’m thrilled with how it turned out and Elliott…well, let’s just say I was lucky to get it off her her long enough to wash it!

So here is her 1960s kitchen curtain dress in all it’s mushroomy glory!

  2. Where is ours?!!!!! Soooo cute!

  3. Just popped over from PW and wanted to say Congrats! This dress is too adorable. I totally have a thing for japanese fabric and won a gift certificate to an etsy seller and thrifted some kawaii looking fabric too! Sadly I still need to get some sewing done but little people seem to keep me too busy. I really like your blog and will have fun looking at your tutorials! Cheers, Jennifer

  4. I love this dress and the pattern is just what I need! Unfortunately it is no longer available on etsy. Boo!!!

    • That’s too bad! Last week, I shot her an email to see if she would still email the file out if people were interested. So far, I haven’t heard back. If I hear from her, I will post here. :)
