Excuses, excuses!

So….it’s been forever since I’ve written anything and I sincerely apologize!  For awhile I had excuses and/or reasons that I couldn’t get time to post, but after going so long without writing I began to let this black cloud of blogging guilt intimidate me and I began to avoid my own site like the plague.

I’m officially back in the blogging game and I hope you guys have stuck around in the meanwhile!

As some of you know, Elliott has been dealing with some fairly major health issues that had us running scared for quite some time.  During that time, she was needing Mommy every minute of the day.  Housework suffered, take-out began to feel like our only source of food and blogging fell far from my mind.  I want to shout from the rooftop that I have absolutely amazing friends and family who helped us get through the tough times.  We had friends send gorgeous flowers and goodies for Elliott.  Friends and neighbors prepared amazingly delicious meals for us….some even drove hours to deliver them to us and keep us company (love ya, Kristie!!!)!  Steady streams of emails, phone calls and hugs provided support and love to help us keep our chins up when were were getting nothing but scary news.  We still have no official diagnosis, but we have an upcoming appointment with a wonderful specialist and we hope to know more about it then!  Thank you all for keeping my little sweetheart in your thoughts!

To help my mind shift focus from scary medical issues to Little Girl Land, I’ve been working on a rag quilt for Elliott’s day bed.  The cutting hundreds of fabric squares was enough to make me go cross-eyed, but now that I’m at the sewing phase it’s going by pretty quickly!  I’ll be sure and share pictures of it when it’s complete!

Also, Shayne has really gotten into redecorating our living room and we’ve been really enjoying getting new pieces for the room!  We’ve been taking advantage of Hobby Lobby’s awesome wall decor sales as well as spending way too much time at our favorite local antique store!  I’m anxious to get the room to a point that I can share pics of all the goodies!

In my spare time, my darling friend Diane is giving me some intense training on my camera so that I can be a photographer when I grow up.  That wonderful camera deserves knowledge, so I’m going to start putting lots more effort into accommodating it.  Anybody know any awesome tricks for SLR beginners?  Let me have it!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got 2 children that just can’t seem to go to sleep, so I’m going to go be drill sargeant mommy.
